Israelis: Either ceasefire or we will burn the country

ALBAWABA- In a significant development, Hamas has agreed to the Qatari-Egyptian ceasefire agreement with Israel. Ismail Hanyeah, Chief of Hamas's Political Bureau, confirmed the acceptance to Qatar and Egypt.

According to a leading Hamas source speaking to Al Jazeera, the Qatari and Egyptian mediators informed Hamas of their agreement to the ceasefire proposal.

Hamas spokesperson stated, "Haniyeh has contacted the Prime Minister of Qatar and the Director of Intelligence in Egypt to inform them of our approval of their ceasefire proposal."

After Hamas agreed to the proposal presented by Egypt, Israelis took to the streets demanding Israel's approval of the proposal and the release of prisoners. There was visible anger in the protests, especially after Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant stated that Hamas does not want to complete a deal and rejects all options.

Among the strong chants was one from an Israeli activist in the video, stating that if Hamas agreed to the ceasefire and prisoner exchange, but Israel didn't, then they themselves would 'burn the country.

This development signals a potential de-escalation of tensions in Gaza, following more than seven months of intense conflict with Israeli occupation forces.

However, Israeli sources have stated that the ceasefire proposal approved by Hamas is not being taken seriously and is unacceptable to Israel. Despite Hamas's reported agreement to a three-stage proposal, Israeli officials have expressed skepticism.

A Hamas source reported that the movement agreed to a three-stage proposal, beginning with a 40-day suspension.

first phase includes a ceasefire and Israel's withdrawal from the Gaza Valley, as well as the return of displaced persons and the exchange of prisoners. Subsequent stages involve truces lasting 42 days each.

However, Israeli sources have dismissed the proposal, stating it does not meet their criteria for a ceasefire. This development may prolong the conflict in Gaza.
