ALBAWABA - With the constant rise of pro-Palestine protests across American Universities including Columbia University, NYU, Harvard, Yale, and many more, several social media users are hinting that TikTok could've been the reason behind the rise of the protests and that's why the US government wants to ban it.

According to C Span 2, US Senator Pete Ricketts revealed why the government wants to ban the Chinese video-sharing platform after saying in a talk that "Pro-Palestinian and Hamas videos on TikTok have more reach than the top 10 US news websites combined."

"So basically they are saying they don't want TikTok because it's spreading news faster and with no censorship."

"Isn’t it ironic that the US government is censoring the truth?"

"Zionists control the US government."

According to the New York Times, Congress has recently passed a bill that could ban TikTok after US President Joe Biden signed the bill to force the sale of the owner of the video app ByteDance or ban it. The bill was passed on Tuesday, Apr. 23, 2024, and was signed into law on Wednesday.

CEO of TikTok Shou Chew will have a year to decide the matter.
