ALBAWABA - A new report was exposed revealing "shocking" details that many paedophiles are using artificial intelligence (AI) to abuse children.
According to the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF), paedophiles are using AI technology in order to create explicit images of kids, share them on the dark web and then blackmail them.
IWF, which is a child abuse charity that works to remove child sexual abuse material online, said that a section on the dark web was found helping to use "nudifying" tools to abuse children via tools that remove all their clothes including underwear.
The Guardian reported citing the charity's report that paedophiles are then using the nude AI photos to blackmail the children threatening more explicit material.
It said: "This is the first evidence we have seen that perpetrators are advising and encouraging each other to use AI technology for these ends."
According to the charity, last year was the worst and the highest in terms of the number of cases of content it detected child sexual abuse material.
The organisation found in 2023 over 275,000 webpages containing child sexual abuse.
Moreover, Michelle Donelan, Member of Parliament of the United Kingdom, posted on X urging for measures to "protect children from horrific online abuse and exploitation."
She said: "Alongside the Online Safety Act, work that organisations like @IWFhotline do is crucial to making the UK the safest place in the world to be online."
