ALBAWABA - The Belgian Foreign Minister revealed that an employee of the Belgian Development Agency (Enabel) and his family were killed in an Israeli attack in Gaza, Al Jazeera reported.

Hadja Lahbib posted on her X account: "An Enabel employee & his family have been killed in Gaza. We express our solidarity with his family & colleagues."

She also slammed bombing civilian areas saying it is "contrary to international law," adding that she will "summon the Israeli ambassador to condemn this unacceptable act & demand an explanation."

Days ago, the Belgian prime minister Alexander De Croo called for the resumption of the UN Palestine Refugee Agency (UNRWA) funding after a report by an independent review group confirmed Israel shared "no evidence" on its accusations.

An investigation was done and a report, made by the Independent Investigative Group, led by former French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna, said that Tel Aviv has not made any proof regarding its claims that UNRWA staffers are linked to Hamas.

Earlier, Israel alleged that 12 UNRWA workers had directly participated in the Oct. 7 Al-Aqsa Flood operation conducted by Hamas.

Following the accusation, many countries halted their UNRWA funding leading to the funding deficit for the UN agency.
